Sublime Magazine

As we are approaching the end of what has been an incredible year for ZANACCO, we wanted to share some of our greatest achievements with you all and we have decided to start with Sublime Magazine issue #24.

Sublime is a bi-monthly international lifestyle magazine with ethical values and intelligent content. The first international sustainable lifestyle magazine of its kind.  A perfect match to our brand ethos and values.

Io Takemura has been collaborating with Sublime Magazine for quite some time. Io’s latest styling project for Sublime, “United We Stand”, celebrates some of the true values of this outstanding publication. Featured below boots by Zanacco.

Supported by the talent of the photographer Charl Marais, Io’s project enriched the values of community. It celebrates diversity and individuality. Featured below shoes by Zanacco.

Sublime started in March 2004 as a group of 30 media people gathered to discuss what a contemporary magazine should be all about.

In a year’s time, the group devoted to Sublime grew to 300 influential opinion formers around the world – making Sublime the first magazine movement with such wide collaboration and following before its launch. Featured below sneakers by Zanacco.

At ZANACCO we are immensely proud to have been featured by Sublime Magazine.

In particular we would like to thanks Laura Santamaria, Fashion Editor at Sublime, for  her support. We would also like to thanks Io Takemura and Charl Marais for their amazing work.

As always let us know what you think by sharing your feedback with us.

xx

Zanacco welcomes Bond Noël

The most exclusive of Christmas countdowns begins on Thursday 18 November with Zanacco at the annual Bond Noël celebrations.

Held in aid of the Louis Dundas Centre for Children’s Palliative Care at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Bond Street will be transformed into a Winter wonderland with snow falling along the length of the street and fir trees lining the pavements. Reindeer, ice sculptors, carol singers, stilt walkers, jugglers, fireworks and musicians will all add to the festive atmosphere of this Christmas extravaganza.

At 6pm, on the corner of Old Bond Street and Burlington Gardens, Bond Street’s special celebrity guest will switch on the magical Christmas lights.

Many of the Bond Street stores will stay open late and offer Christmas hospitality and festive delights. For the evening, Zanacco will be entertaining its guest at Eterno on Conduit Street. Join us from 5pm until 8pm to enjoy a few glasses of fine Italian Prosecco.

My first FBC Meeting

On Thursday I attended my first FBC meeting. I could not have asked for a more ideal induction to the members’ only club than the one organised by FBC co-founders Courtney Blackman and Alison Whelan on Thursday 30th of September.  Guest interviewee was Laura Bailey, model, advocate of sustainable fashion and mother, whilst interviewer was none other than Vogue.com‘s editor Dolly Jones.

Dolly started off the interview with questions focused on Laura’s career as a model and followed through to her work with Vogue.com and the Green Style Blog, a platform to discuss, debate and promote sustainable fashion.

According to long time FBCers the Q&A session that followed was the longest recorded so far, whilst the press present also frantically took notes. Both an indication that the audience felt passionate about the issues raised by Laura Bailey and Dolly Jones.

Laura tackled concerns that resonated with those faced by ZANACCO on a daily basis. These included the set backs that brands face when tagged green or eco- friendly. Laura says that “the success of ethical fashion needs to be in terms of style and not eco-credentials.” Whilst on the multitude of ways one can support sustainable fashion Laura said “I grew up in a way that was naturally green but without the labels. I have never been an ‘It Bag Girl’ or bought ‘One Night Stand Dresses.’ I have always been more of a vintage, long-term shopper, happy to pick up £5 vintage bargains. ”

As  a designer of a sustainable luxury brand I must admit that it is thanks to the work of people like Laura and Dolly that the promotion of brands, with an enviromental conscience,  such as Zanacco, itself has become an easier task- though there is obviously still a lot of work to be done.

On a more casual note we could not help but notice the shoes Laura was wearing.

To Laura Bailey and Dolly Jones a thank you for bringing the debate on sustainable fashion to the forefront. To FBC’s co-founders Courtney Blackman and Alison Whelan thank you for making it tangible!

If you would like to find out more about the debates and meetings organised by FBC please have a look here.

Zanacco at LFW S/S11 Day 3

From one shoe designer to another…

Mr Jimmy Choo

Small/ Big bleep to our day this way and then we carried on to street style hunting. Hats dominated our third day at LFW.

The saying goes ‘every musician needs a pochette’ in the case above it is every photographer needs a bowler hat. Bowler hats are also known as coke hat from the younger brother of the 2nd Earl of Leicester , Edward Coke, for whom the first felt round hat was designed. Other names for it include derby and billycock.

The gentelman below evokes the nineteenth century when the first Bowler hat appeared.

Zanacco at LFW S/S11 Day 2

Day 2 of LFW saw us back at Somerset House where we detected the latest must have accessories for men. Our general conclusion is one and simple: Man- Bags.

On our way to On/Off @Victoria House

Though in the late naughties and even earlier,  this term did not have a great sounding to it come now and it has become the latest male style element. Many fashion writers attribute the coolness of the man bag to eco- luxury fashion brands- the two seem to go hand in hand (no pun intended). Following Zanacco’s street style hunting Zanacco’s next stop was Estethica where we scouted for ideal man bags.

Bags by Issi– ‘The SS11 collection is inspired by new waste streams; primarily reclaimed saddle leather, reclaimed artist canvas and end of line PVC.” Amongst many shops Issi is also stocked at Selfridges&Co.

Lost Property of London– “The SS11 collection has added the new Elwin Basket bag, Rivington Rucksack and Belmont Messenger to the mix, each made from recycled coffee sacks. They have kept the popular florals inspired by a Liberty collaboration, a few stripes and some logos based on designs for this season’s linings”. Stockists inlude Liberty, London
