Serge Gainsbourg

Timeless elegance mixed with a carefree attitude, Serge Gainsbourg’s talents were also matched by his unfailing sense of style.

Often imitated, never duplicated, Gainsbourg’s impeccable, yet seemingly effortless style is still sought after today.

With an understated French allure achieved with just the right amount of haphazardness to an otherwise perfectly planned ensemble, paired with Gainsbourg’s trademark cigarette, here are our picks for achieving the look.

The Ultimate in Luxury – Dressing Gowns

Here at Zanacco, we’re always nostalgic for old Hollywood glamour. Where attention was paid to the tiniest of details and luxury reigned supreme – even just lounging at home. Nothing says elegance, style, and the satisfaction of life’s little luxuries quite like a man’s dressing gown.

Above: Clark Gable in an embellished silk dressing gown. Frank Sinatra looking fresh, clean and dapper.

Cary Grant Style

When it comes to style, there are few who parallel Mr. Cary Grant.

In fact, when it comes to suits, we at Zanacco think no one’s quite got him beat.
Always dapper, always effortless – Cary exudes an air of elegance, and let’s face it, that little big of swagger that manages to elude the many who attempt it.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not worth trying! Here are our our picks to look like the style icon himself. The pipe is optional, of course.

Science fiction’s leading men

We like to think science fiction film costume designers are particularly lucky – a world of endless possibilities, no decade restrictions, a universe filled with “anything goes” fashion.

Though this may be true, our favourite science fiction leading men always seem to have something in common – an unbelievable coat.

Mel Gibson looking effortlessly cool in a post apocalyptic world (Mad Max).

A ruggedly polished Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard (Bladrunner).

Will Smith looking slick in leather as Del Spooner (IRobot).

Here’s our outfit choice for our very own modern day sci-fi hero.

Before Gaga, there was Bowie

It’s inarguable that David Bowie had style. He took risks, had no qualms about being daring and was a true showman in every essence of the word.

But what we love about Bowie’s style is his more understated side, the tailoring of his suits, the androgyny that somehow exuded effortless sex appeal like no other.

Any man able to charm the likes of Iman has got to be doing something right.

Here are some looks we put together inspire by the man himself – the key to these outfits are impeccably tailored slim fit trousers.

The brooch – not just for your grandma

While women have always had free reign of the every and any accessory imaginable, the elusive mens’ accessory world has expanded with an unlikely addition – the men’s brooch.

With a nod to the dapper English dandies, aristocratic nobles and decorated war veterans of the past, brooches have made their long awaited comeback. From Spring/Summer runways to the lapels of hip hop icons like Kanye West, these stylish pins effortlessly take an outfit from plain to statement in seconds.

Have a look at our favourite picks for the season.

Alexander Mcqueen, Gucci, Dee & Ricky

If you prefer old school threads to designer wares, definitely make your way to antique markets and vintage shops where brooches are plentiful and bound to be unique. In London, Portobello Market, Chelsea and Alfies Antique Markets are good places to start. Otherwise, consult your grandmother’s closet!

Classic Men’s Fashion we should never forget

Over the years, many styles and trends are revisited but sadly some styles and accessories are forgotten and left as a part of our past. As tradition at Zanacco, is something we believe in, we have revisited some old styles and look at what Men should reintroduce into their wardrobes.

Walking sticks were a traditional tool men used for a stroll in a park or a brisk walk in the woods. With styles ranging from the Country to smart, there were and still are many styles to choose from.

Gentleman with their walking sticks

Antique Walking sticks have some great choices in their collections and would suit many tastes, so why not give one a try?

Watches have revolutionised telling the time. From the days when men would carry pocket watches and pass them down through generations, this old yet classic look would indicate a real gentleman from another.  Sadly this accessory has been long forgotten yet can add class and decoration to a suit or waistcoat, even into today’s society.

The bowler hat was a piece of Men’s outerwear that was worn by businessmen and gentleman alike. With the trend slowly progressing into women’s fashion, the bowler still remains a classic item that can still be seen on traditional men about town. With many colours introduced over the years, black still remains the greatest choice and is surely something that should be a regular on the fashion scene.

Lock & Co Hatter have some great classic hats to choose from including the Trilby, Fedora and our favorite, the Bowler hat.
